The Temple of the Creative Arts

presents

Weekend Art Workshop

with Susie Quatermass

28th February / 1st March 2026

Join me for another adventure into pottery in the Temple of the Creative Arts!

We have all seen the beautiful vases and lidded vessels created by our ancestors in museums: perfectly formed and uniquely decorated, they were often used not only as decoration but also as functional vessels with a purpose.

So, this weekend is an opportunity to join Goddess ceramicist Susie Quatermass to explore the possibilities of coil building in clay.

We will be creating Ancestor Vessels, lidded pots decorated in symbols and motifs, that can contain the beautiful memories of your life, or the life of another, to be passed down through the generations.

We will be preparing the clay, making the coils and beginning to build on the Saturday, with further coils added and the lid created on the Sunday along with adding our decorations and motifs.

Coil building takes time. It brings us back into our sense of self, of presence, of making together in the deeper silence of the world. It is a wonderful way to build any kind of form and can be both inspired and therapeutic. When we connect with the earth in Her raw form, magic happens. When we build with our hands, we bring alive our innate creativity.

We will have two days to spend together exploring what to build, learning how to build and adding our decorations.

No experience necessary, just a curiosity to explore.
