“Lady of Avalon”, by Caroline Lir

In Spiral One of the Priest/ess of Avalon Training students journey together through a teaching and ceremonial cycle, learning what it means to become a true Heart Sister or Brother of Avalon, the ancient and present day land of Goddess. Students experience the many different faces of our indigenous British Goddess as She expresses Herself through the cycle of Her seasons. You learn about Bridannia, Britannia, Brigit-Ana, the tutelary/guardian Goddess of Brigit’s Isles, and about other indigenous British Goddesses – Brighde, Artha, Rhiannon, Blodeuwedd, Domnu, Madron, Ker, Banbha, Brigantia, Keridwen, Sheela na Gig, Danu, Arianrhod, the Nine Morgens and the Lady of Avalon. You learn who the ancient yet ever-living Goddess is in this land and how you can apply Her wisdom in your own life, community, culture and landscapes. Your personal connection to Goddess expands and deepens and a process of personal transformation begins.

Each teaching Circle includes ceremony, teaching, creativity, walking and being in the sacred landscape of Avalon. Glastonbury is the Outerworld counterpart to the Otherworld of the Isle of Avalon. To truly become a Sister/Brother or Priestess/Priest of Avalon it is important to become familiar with the actual physical and spiritual landscape of Glastonbury Avalon, as the land is the gateway to knowledge of the Lady and Her mysteries. You need to be physically fit and able to walk easily up and down hills as time is spent walking on the land during each Circle.

The minimum age for students on this course is 23 years of age and younger students will need to provide proof of their age.

At the beginning of the First Spiral you receive copies of 2 books by Kathy Jones, Founder of the Priestess/Priest of Avalon Training, which provide a foundation for the teaching on the course. These are Priestess of Avalon, Priestess of Goddess, a Renewed Spiritual path for the 21st Century (Ariadne Publications), and Remembering the Nine Morgens, The Nine Sisters of Avalon (Ariadne Publications), or other of Kathy’s books if you have these already.

During the First Spiral we invite you to visit the Oracle of the Lady of Avalon offered in each season at Goddess House to receive guidance on your path to becoming a Priestess /Priest of Avalon.

During the course you are encouraged to put your learning into practice in your life. You are expected to enhance your personal connection to Goddess through daily prayer, journaling, by creating personal ceremonies, making a Goddess altar and by visiting sacred sites of the Goddess. Between Circles trainees receive several hours of homework, which requires time, application and commitment. Completion of all homework on time is a course requirement. There may be fines for late homework.

There are also sometimes additional, optional Goddess events held on the Friday evening before the weekend trainings, or on the Saturday evening. You will be informed in advance when they are happening.

The First Spiral of the Priestess and Priest of Avalon training is experiential and will involve you in personal change and Self-development. The Goddess’s touch is transformative. As personal issues arise which need extra support you may be required to seek psychotherapeutic help in order to continue with the course.

The First Spiral is taught by Priestess of Avalon Kit Crowther, supported by Kathy Jones.
